Always two sides

It is hard being alone,
But even on my own,
I still stand tall,
Against all odds,

I am not always right,
I am wrong at times,
Rights of life,
Codes that oppose rules that lie,
Working smart,
If not hard,
Ever had a start that is so rough,
Or heard of people who cuff themselves for a helping hand?
Some things are just within us,
Not even in those close to us,
But it is a two way,
Either to make hay while the sun shine,
Or make a day out of a night.
